Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe he is 7 already? Bj had a great birthday. I even made it in to have lunch with him at school. His classmates thought it was cool that I brought a Happy Meal for both of us. One little friend did say, "don't you have a job or something?". I answered "I guess my job today is to annoy you." He thought that was pretty funny. Bj got a new bike for his birthday and a few starwars people and books (I love yard sales!). Ben and I realized how badly he needed a new bike when we watched him ride by and his knees were higher than the handle bars!

She's offfffffffffffffffffff!

L learning to ride on two wheels instead of four! She was so excited and even changed into her crocks from her black boots. She said she didn't want to scratch them when she fell and was happy that her crocks matched her helmet. What??? Since I was not a fashion diva as a child (or ever) I think I am in trouble!

Easter

Had a great Easter this year. It was a beautiful day so got to enjoy some of it outside with an Easter egg hunt. D's behaviors had been so extreme that we did not allow him to participate. I have never even considered doing that and hated to, but we just couldn't allow him to do it after everything that had happened over that weekend. Very sad. I think he got the point, though. Was a very sad little boy. We had gone the weekend prior to our church celebration. They have crafts, egg hunt, games, lessons etc. It was sooo packed that we could not believe it! Very exciting and was glad that so many children who may or may not even attend our church were learning the REAL reason we celebrate Easter.

More School Drama

School psychologist 'observed' Bj today. Waiting for them to get back with me for meeting times. Will see what they say and hold back my Mother Bear instincts

Movin' along!

We finally have a court date for termination of parental rights (TPR)! May 16th is the next big day. If it is granted, we will have to wait 30 days in case one of the parent's chooses to appeal. After that we will start the adoption process!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buried Treasure

In the middle of bath time last night a scream rang out. Not a "somebody hit me", but a "the sky is falling scream". Ran into B and B's room to see what was happening. Braden was hysterical. Took a good couple minutes to calm him down all the while he was holding his throat and stomach. Eventually through the sobs I understood he has swallowed "gold". I started to worry a bit thinking it was a pirate coin he had swallowed. No, it was a LEGO pirate gold coin. They are the size of the hole in your keys. He continued to sob. Finally got out of him that his daddy had told him a while back that if he ever swallowed a toy (he puts things in his mouth A LOT) that the doctor would have to cut his stomach open to get it out. Braden would not calm down even after I told him it was very small and would come out the opposite end. I looked at him and said "Hey, when you go poop you will have your own buried treasure!" That finally got him to laugh and after some more sobbing calmed down. A few minutes later when tucking him in for the night his eye got really wide and he asked "what if it comes out when I go potty?"

School Woes

So here is the question of the day... How do you motivate a child to do their school work at school? So far reward charts, punishments, praise, and early bedtimes have not worked. I am at a loss. They have decided (again) to get the school counselor AND the school psychologist involved. I have stipulated that they are not to make notes for his file nor attempt a diagnosis. I will take him to another therapist/psychologist for their opinion before I allow a diagnosis to be made. How do they expect a 6 year old boy to sit and focus all day? They only allow for 15 minutes of recess!!!!!!!!!! Their routine punishment for children that 'flip their card' is to take 5 minutes per 'flip' of recess away. How does this help anything? These children NEED to get energy out. There is such a push for parents to get their children outside because of the rising obesity rates, yet they make these children sit in school all day? Once a week they get phys ed class for 30 minutes or so. Whoopee. Ok, I feel better after my vent and will climb off my soap box now.

Florida Vacation!

Spring Break!

We had sooooo much fun in florida. Mom/Dad's neighbors helped us put on a tea party, parade (which included a few clowns and several golf carts), swimming at the pool, bochee ball, pickle ball, shuffle board, feeding ducks, alligator hunts, beach, backyard fun, flea markets, going to the parks, riding bikes, seeing Aunt Bev and Great-grandma, and music at a couple of the town squares.
